The Alabama Poison Information Center’s (APIC) data represents opioid exposures voluntarily reported to APIC by the public and health care professionals (all these cases were intentional exposures) between January 2016 and March 2024. These exposure cases do not represent all opioid exposures in Alabama.

The CDR holds data and distributes results to partner agencies and the public, thus allowing for rapid response to outbreaks of overdoses and other opioid-related events, as well as providing a framework to measure the progress of initiatives in place to address the crisis.
