Home / Emergency Rooms
This data represents persons in Alabama who visited an emergency room because of an overdose. This data comes from the National Syndromic Surveillance Data. Data is reported by the hospital/ER to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH). ADPH then sends the data to the National Syndromic Surveillance Data Program within the CDC. The data below is from Alabama between 2016 and 2019. The data in these graphics includes all emergency room visits for suspected or confirmed drug overdose. Not all overdoses are opioid-related. Each visualization uses a separate summary dataset to protect identifiable information. To further protect identifiable information, summary data must have a minimum of 10.
